Compassion it is called.

16.12.11
Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.” - Frederick Buechner.

As Christians, we are called to obey the Lord's word, by feeding the hungry, visiting the widows and taking care of the sick ones and orphans. Not many of us take that seriously, and it is not Christian just to go to church and warm the benches. God calls us to work, to evangelize, to have compassion for those who suffer... and so I'm starting to take action in all of that.

Since I was a little girl, I wanted to donate my hair to a child with no hair because of the cancer in his (or her) body. My dad would always say no because he just loved to see me with my long long hair, big wavy blonde curls. But now that I'm 21, I make my own decisions but always ask for their opinion and consent. And to be honest, I had to beg him 2 weeks so I could do it, because you know, even though I'm a big girl now, he's still my dad and the Lord demands me to OBEY my parents and to honour them in all times and situations.

So.. I DID IT! I let it grow for about 7 months, it got all the way down to my butt (hee!) and had 13 inches of beautiful well treated long hair to donate. I was just so happy to do it, I had long hair my whole life and it was time for a change and the best part was that I did it for a very good cause :) I researched a little bit before I could donate it, and finally found a foundation that I thought it was worth it and contacted them so I could give my hair to them!

Let me tell you this: this has been (so far) one of the most regarding experiences I've had in my life. It didn't hurt (just a tiny bit) and it felt so so great to be able to do it. I went to the salon and explained my stylist how I wanted my new hair, and so she braided my long hair and cut exactly 13 inches. That was our goodbye, we had good moment my long hair and I, but on the other hand, I just LOOOVE the new look and LOOOVE the cause is going to go :) I feel fresh, light and the best part is that I wash my hair in like 2 minutes and bursh it in like 30 seconds. So, here are some pictures so you can see the change!

Note: when I gave the braid to Marcella (the founder) she explained to me that once they had the wig done, I WAS THE ONE who would give it to the person who's gonna wear it... oh my gosh, I couldn't be MORE excited! and now I just can't wait. I'm just SO thankful with God to let me experience this in my own skin, to help others because he helps me. I adore him with all my heart, sould and body!

Before... see, it was so long it didn't even fit the picture frame :S
